Social Outreach

Bangalore West Lions Super Speciality Hospital is committed to bringing positive changes in the eye care sector by addressing the challenges of non-availability and non-affordability of quality eye care. The global burden of blindness is increasing day by day, especially in Rural India. In such a scenario, the Hospital’s goal is to eliminate needless blindness. The momentum of this humanitarian work is taken forward by the generous support of those who contribute financially to BW Lions Eye Hospital in different capacities. This goes towards our mission of providing affordable eye care.

We conduct outreach camps in rural and semi-urban areas to eliminate blindness due to cataracts. The primary objective of community eye care programs is to fight against curable and preventable blindness in India.

 Rural Programs

Rural India is far from affordable Healthcare facilities. It is the duty of everyone to enable the reach of affordable Eye Care Services to Rural India which feeds us every day. We organize rural Eye Camps regularly across various districts of Karnataka.

School Programs

Today’s Children are tomorrow’s citizens. Due to the changing atmosphere and lifestyle, children are prone to eye care issues. Our Eye Hospital regularly organizes eye checkups for children in partnership with schools and provides the necessary treatment.

Rural Outreach Program:

Presently Our Hospital is conducting 10 free cataract eye camps every month and 120 camps every year. We are covering 9 districts of Karnataka and two neighboring districts Ananthapur and Chittoor of Andhra Pradesh for bringing poor and deserving patients for cataract surgery. Our medical team goes to the pre-fixed place on the appointed date and examines all the patients and selects patients with cataract and other treatable eye disorder and transport them to our Hospital in Bangalore in our Hospital Bus. They are provided food, shelter, for 3 days. They are pre-operatively checked for their fitness and the following day surgeries are done. On the 3rd day morning, they are given clear instructions for the do’s and don’ts. They have given protective glasses and six weeks of all medicines. They are taken back to the place from where we had picked them up. At the end of 2nd week, our medical team visits the place again and checks all the operated patients. All the above services are totally free of cost for the eye camp patients from the 10 districts such as Bangalore Urban, Bangalore Rural, Kolar, Hassan, Tumkur, Mandya Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapura      &  Ramanagar.
